Four destinations. One honest table.

The same comparison an agent draws on a whiteboard — except every cell here carries its source: verified tuition ranges, official visa fees, the insurance rules as written, and the climate and language realities brochures airbrush out.

Decision lens

Three questions sort the four destinations.

Before you read every cell, answer these in order. Each branch points you to the matrix rows that actually settle it for your family — the table is wide, but your decision usually turns on just a few lines.

01

Is there a hard budget ceiling?

The single biggest sorter — the all-in band spans a wide range across the four.

02

How much FMGE-return risk can the family carry?

The exam is the same everywhere — but cohort size and history differ.

03

How much climate / language friction is tolerable?

Brochures airbrush both; the matrix prints them as written.

Why this matrix exists

The NMC’s own public advisory says agents are documented giving false information on recognition, fees and course duration — the very cells below. So every one carries its source instead of a salesman’s word.

Honest matchmaking

Which destination fits which family.

Uzbekistan

The budget-first route: lowest tuition and living of the four, direct flights, familiar food. Trade-off: younger English-medium programmes — verify the language reality per university, in writing.

Georgia

The Europe-feel route: mildest climate, safest city scores, strong English-medium MD culture, ECFMG/US orientation. Trade-off: the costliest of the four, and you rent privately — there are almost no dorms.

Russia

The big-university route: federal universities with QS ranks, large Indian cohorts, decades of history. Trade-offs: real winters, FX in RUB, and language transitions at some universities after year 3.

Kazakhstan

The balance route: mid costs, direct Almaty flights, a QS-166 flagship (Al-Farabi). Trade-offs: Astana’s brutal winters and programme structures that need the FMGL 54-month check.

Before you shortlist

The four watch-outs we’d tell our own family.

Georgia

Most universities have NO dorms — budget Tbilisi rent (₾1,200–1,900/mo) from day one.

Kazakhstan

Programme structure differs (5+1/5+2/6yr) — confirm it meets the FMGL 54-month test in writing.

Russia

Check the English-medium claim per university, in writing — official pages differ from agent claims.

Uzbekistan

Bukhara SMU has SUSPENDED Indian admissions for 2026-27 (official bsmi.uz announcement).

And one constant across all four: the FMGE (~19–30% per session) and the 12-month CRMI wait at the end. Price the whole journey, not the brochure.
