No “NMC-approved list” exists — recognition is criteria-based.
criteria-based (FMGL 2021) — confirmed per university, never a guarantee. To practise in India you must also clear the FMGE (or NExT once active) and complete a 12-month CRMI internship.
NEET-qualified (for admissions on/after May 2018 the NEET result itself is deemed the Eligibility Certificate — Gazette 01.03.2018, per the NBEMS FMGE bulletin); program must meet FMGL 2021 (54-mo, English, same-institution internship). Language reality (official BSMU FAQ, verified 2026-06-12): teaching is English-medium for the first 3 years only, transitioning to Russian for clinical practice — students must learn Russian.
A listing in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) is a directory entry only — by itself it is not recognition, accreditation, or endorsement by the NMC or WDOMS. It is one of the FMGL-2021 criteria, not a guarantee.

The city, for an Indian student
Ufa is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Russia's tenth-most-populous city (1,144,809 at the 2021 census). It is a major oil-refining, chemical and engineering centre with an international airport and a historic branch of the Trans-Siberian Railway. Climate honesty: Ufa has a continental climate with harsh winters — the January average daily minimum is −16.8°C, temperatures can fall well below −20°C, and the record low is −48.5°C. Students need serious winter clothing. The city hosted the 2015 BRICS and SCO summits and has universities, museums and theatres.

Graduate outcomes
BSMU officially reports about 5,000 foreign students and residents from 64 countries, and its admission portal notes that 'BSMU graduates from India successfully passed FMGE'; Indian students are active enough on campus to organise official Republic Day celebrations. Balance and honesty: in July 2025, The Hindu reported that around 200 Indian students were expelled by BSMU citing attendance shortages and subject backlogs and returned to India, with students alleging unfair treatment — applicants should understand attendance and academic-progress rules are strictly enforced. No official FMGE pass-rate statistics or an official count of Indian students are published.
