About the university
Kazan Federal University (KFU), established in 1804, is one of Russia's oldest universities, located in Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It enrols over 52,000 students, including about 11,500 international students from 101 countries, across 18 educational units and 600+ education programs. Medicine is taught at its Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology (IFMB), which offers a 6-year English-medium General Medicine (Specialist) degree and is supported by KFU's own 836-bed University Clinic. Hostel & accommodation
International students are housed mainly in the Universiade Village, built for the 2013 Summer Universiade and described by KFU as one of the largest student campuses in Russia, accommodating over 9,000 KFU students from more than 100 countries. Rooms are for 2–3–4 persons with kitchen, WC and shower; on-site amenities include sports grounds, canteen, supermarket, post office, and a student clinic within walking distance. KFU's student-residence page lists residence fees of 730–1,250 rubles per month (verify the current rate for international contract students with the university).

The city, for an Indian student
Kazan is the capital and largest city of Tatarstan, with about 1.3 million residents (2021 census), located on the Volga River roughly 715 km east of Moscow. In 2009 the Russian Patent Office granted Kazan the right to be called Russia's 'third capital', and it is a major industrial, financial and sports centre with strong student life. Be prepared for the climate: humid continental with long, cold winters — January daily mean around −10.4 °C — and warm summers. The UNESCO-listed Kazan Kremlin with the Qolsharif Mosque is the city's landmark.
